Top Ten Guilty Pleasures

Hey there my lovelies! Today we’re talking all about my top ten guilty pleasures. I have never been one to spend money fruitlessly, but there are somethings I do to treat myself. It’s never good to get so caught up in life that you forget to take time for yourself or your stress will bubble over in an unhealthy way. Let’s get started 🙂

GETTING MY NAILS DONE

One of my favorite guilty pleasures is getting my nails done. It helps me feel more put together and even if I’m wearing a lazy day outfit as long as my nails are done I feel good. Getting your nails done can get kinda pricy, which is why I consider it a guilty pleasure. Getting my nails done can range anywhere from $35 to $50 but like I said it helps me feel more cleaned up.  I mostly go for neutral colors or French for my nails but occasionally I like to choice brighter colors depending on the seasons.

BUYING NEW MAKE-UP

When buying new makeup I am always super careful with the money I spend. I look for sales, check out the clearance section at Walmart & Target, or find coupons for Ulta that takes money off. However, sometimes I treat myself by checking out which companies have come out with new collections and purchasing a few products. Most of the time when I purchase makeup on sale its products that are no longer current or have been out for a few years. Occasionally I want to purchase something current and new from companies that are putting out collections I’ve never seen before.

PICKING UP SOME NEW BOOKS

Like I said earlier I have never been one to spend money fruitlessly. So when it comes to books I love going to the library and finding some books or going on Amazon or to the thrift shops and finding books I want to read that are being sold for only a few dollars. I do love tho checking out the new book section at Target or Walmart to see which authors I love that have putting out new books. If I find something  I really want to read I’ll see if I can find it cheaper somewhere else. If I can’t find it anywhere I’ll purchase it for full price. I hate how expensive books can be, but I figure it’s better to spend money on books rather than video games or clothes.

CHOCOLATE

I don’t know if I have ever met anyone who doesn’t love to treat themselves with chocolate. There are lots of studies that show consuming chocolate every once in a while can have lots of health benefits especially dark chocolate. It has tons of antioxidants in it that are helpful for lowering cholesterol and help aid in heart health. Eating chocolate release saratonin in the brain that helps with anxiety and depression. For me my favorite chocolate to consume are Forrero Roches and Reese’s Cups. Sometimes I have had a hard day and just want to sit on the couch watch my favorite tv show and eat some chocolate. If your not a fan of chocolate try ice cream or frozen yogurt. Anything to get your blood sugar up every once in a while will make you feel a million times better.

BUBBLE BATH TIME

Another one of my favorite guilty pleasures is treating myself to a nice bubble bath and buying all the luxeries that go along with it. Lush is a great place to buy bath products with beautiful scents and colors. Whenever I am prepping for a pampering night some of my favorite products are bath bombs, bubbles, Epsom salts, lotion bars and body scrubs. With my work being hectic and life just as busy taking a night to pamper myself is much needed. If you aren’t a fan of bubble baths find something that reduces your stress and take some time for yourself.

STARBUCKS COFFEE

I have always been a huge fan of coffee but with me trying to get healthy and eat clean coffee doesn’t fit into my lifestyle. There are studies however that show that having a cup of coffee every now and then can have lots of benefits to your health. The target I shop at has a Starbucks in it, so one of my favorite things to do every now and then is to visit the Starbucks in target. I pick myself up a coffee or green tea and take time to slowly shop around. Again I hate how expensive buying a cup coffee can be, but sometimes it’s all I want.

BUY YOURSELF SOME FLOWERS

I live on an island where there are areas that natural flowers grow, so I always pick them and bring them home. But sometimes I enjoy going out and purchasing a beautiful bundle or roses, daisies, or sunflowers. Having flowers in the house will help reduce your stress and depression rates. Flowers remind us of spring and summer and that makes people happy especially me! Buying a bundle of flowers can put you out $20 but if you shop smart you can almost always find discounted flowers. Don’t go to a flower shop the flowers there are almost always gonna be more expensive than anywhere else. I love going to Aldis or the supermarket you’ll always find flowers at a less expensive price.

SUSHI AND DUMPLINGS

Another one of my favorite guilty pleasures, especially when I’m going out with friends is getting sushi and dumplings. On the scale of foods that are healthy and unhealthy sushi falls pretty close on the healthy scale. Especially if you choose brown rice and low sodium soy sauce. The reason I call sushi a guilty please is because we all know how expensive sushi can be. Especially if you order more than one roll and appetizers. It can sometimes put out you out $40 to 60$ dollars. But when you need at sushi fix its totally worth it.

WEEKEND GETAWAY

Sometimes all you need is to take time away from your busy life, and that’s perfectly okay. Taking a weekend trip away from where you live is exactly what the doctor prescribed. If it’s summer take a trip to the beach, if it’s winter go to a cabin and sit by the fire. If you have a significant other you two can take lots of weekend getaways  to help realize stress. But do not feel bad if you want to go alone, or just with your family. Taking time away from your life can sometimes also mean taking time away from your partner or family. If you’re feeling overwhelmed the best thing you can do for yourself is take alone time to think and do things that you want to do.

SHOPPING

Retail therapy is a real thing and can help you not have to think about all the hecticness that is your life. For me retail therapy includes hitting up all the thrift shops in my area and spending time buying things for myself. There are times when I don’t need a new pair of jeans or a sweater but it looks cute and I want it. Thrift shops are a great place to go for some retail therapy because you will never spend a ton of money and you’ll always end up with a bag full of clothes you love.

  1. Girl we are like DEAD ON with the same exact guilty pleasures, all except buying flowers bc my hubby actually does that quite often and often for no reason at all. ❤️ replace buying flowers with watching makeup tutorials/reviews or a Goodwill shopping trip, and you’ve got my life described exactly.
