Hey there my lovelies, today I’m gonna talk all about starting your own blog and how to gain followers! Blogging is one of the best ways to express your thoughts, feelings, or tips and tricks on things you are interested in. It can seem intimidating, to try and start a blog that will be successful. But when you gain those first couple of followers and get into the flow of blogging it can be so rewarding. Lets get started!Β

The first thing you’re gonna wanna do when starting a blog, is to chose a topic you want to center your blog around. Topics like Make-up, Food & Recipes, Health & Fitness, Fashion, or for me I choose to create a Lifestyle Blog. There are a million different topics to choose from, and if you’re not sure, do some research. It’s important to choose a topic you’re passion about, this way you can write lot’s of blog posts on the subject without getting bored or repetitive.Β

After you have decided on the topic of your blog, it’s time to come up with some idea’s for your first couple of blog posts. You can find all sorts of blog post idea’s on places like Pinterest, Google, Reading other blogs, etc. Your first blog post should always be an introduction post. Where you tell your followers a little bit about yourself and what they can expect from your blog. This comes in handy later down the road as well, when you have followers who want to get to know you and read your blog from the beginning. After you have done your introduction post you can get right into talking about topics you like. For example if your blog is about fashion you can write posts like, Outfit of the day, how you style certain clothing items, hauls, thrifting, whats in your wardrobe and so on.Β  I always keep a notepad on my phone specifically for my blog, so if I’m out and about, or reading an article or just generally find a topic I would like to talk about I can write it down.Β

When I first started my blog, I had a women comment and say, that I was an awesome writer, but my posts were kind of a mouthful and I should include some pictures. This comment was so helpful, Because I soon learned that having blog posts that are all words and very lengthy can make your readers lose interest. It’s important to try and keep your readers attention with pictures, and bullet points.Β  You also don’t want to write posts that are so long, condense them and only include important points. Otherwise your readers can get lost in what you’re actually trying to say.Β Β

When it comes to gaining followers, one of the best things you can do is interact with other bloggers. Start following blogs similar to yours, or blogs about things you’re interested in. Leave comments on their posts, and you will start getting followers and feedback. Making friends with other bloggers is a huge help, you will be hard pressed to find a fellow blogger who won’t give you words of encouragement. Another way to gain followers is to reach out to your real life friends. Let them know you started a blog and would like them to follow and provide feedback. This helped me a lot in the beginning of my blog, and with their positive words it made me feel good about what I was doing. Linking your blog to your Instagram or Facebook is also a huge help. This way your followers on your social media platforms can follow you and tell their friends about your blog.Β

When others provide feedback about your blog it can sometimes be hard to receive. You might feel like their telling you what you’re doing wrong, or that they don’t like your blog. You shouldn’t feel like that at all, getting feedback on your blog is always a positive thing. Take what their saying and start making the changes to your blog. You are not gonna be perfect from day one, blogging is a learning process that takes months to get right. Listen to what your followers are saying, and what they want to see.Β

  1. “Feedback on your blog is always a positive thing.” Definitely true! Sometimes it takes time to shape your blog into what you really want it to be so any feedback along the way is helpful!

    Great post!

  2. Excellent advice! If it only matters to you what or how you write, start a private journal or a private blog. If you want to write for an audience, you need to be able to accept feedback and learn what others want to and enjoy reading! Love this! ❀️
